RULES

*(the organizers will inspect the bikes before departure)

To participate in the crossing, all participants must have a whistle with them.

Each participant must be dressed accordingly to the temperature (the Gulf of Saint Lawrence brings us strong winds and it can be very cold).

The bikes suggested for the course are Fatbikes with tires 3.5 to 5 inches wide. Type 27.5+ and 29+ tires (mountain bike) with a diameter of 2.6 to 3.4 inches will also be accepted (the crossing does not rent. Each participant is responsible for obtaining a bicycle).

Studded tires are highly recommended for the Melodus Winter Crossing.

The checkpoints will be there to secure the route and will also serve as an extraction point if necessary.

Volunteers will be on the course to assist with your needs during the race. Do not hesitate to contact one of them for any requests.

Your safety is important to us, if you experience any discomfort, problems or any concerns, mention it immediately to a member of our team.

We suggest mitten warmers and toe warmers (hotshot) for the Melodus Winter Crossing.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory.

Every crossing is aimed at cyclists aged 16 and over.

Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult during the race.

The minimum age to participate, even accompanied, is 12 years old.

Participants under the age of 16 must demonstrate sufficient athletic skills to complete the challenge.

Given the winter context of the event, it is the responsibility of each participant to plan their drinking and food needs for the duration of the race.

Remember this is a protected estuary pick up your trash behind you.

LEAVE NO TRACE!

EXCEEDINGS

All cyclists must give way to faster cyclists behind them by keeping to the right, taking care not to leave the course limits.

Cyclists who request passage from slower cyclists must signal their intention with “ATTENTION!” PASSING LEFT” and wait until the slower cyclist has crossed the right side of the track.

MECHANICAL SERVICE

It is expected that all cyclists are autonomous in terms of the mechanics of their bikes.

In the event of damage, participants may have to walk to the nearest checkpoint and possibly abandon the adventure. However, don't worry, our teams will take you back to the arrival site if necessary.

CHECKPOINTS

Checkpoints are above all places to ensure the safety of participants.

The route will be marked with signage.
